Mont Kiara is an affluent township northwest of downtown Kuala Lumpur.
It’s always an exciting time at Mont’Kiara International School. From class achievements to triumphs in sports, from active participation in community celebrations to activities that promote play, discovery and exploration, there’s always something to engage our students.
Our Early Childhood Division serves children aged 3 (Pre-K3) to 4 (Pre-K4) with small class sizes and a full-time assistant in each classroom. We follow the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes play, discovery, and exploration. Our focus on independence and individualized instruction begins in early learning and extends throughout all grade levels at M'KIS.
Our Elementary Division (Kindergarten to Grade 5) features small class sizes and follows the inquiry-based International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), which allows for an authentic integration of various disciplines, such as mathematics, science, technology, languages, social studies, arts, and personal, social, and physical education.
Our Middle School curriculum emphasizes global contexts and concept-driven learning, where students analyze and question subject matter to develop their judgment and analytical skills. Through the Middle Years Programme (MYP), students gain a deep understanding of real-world topics and issues through inquiry, action, and reflection, both within specific subjects and interdisciplinary studies. The MYP continuum encourages students to reflect on their own learning and assesses them based on skills and content criteria through authentic tasks created by our experienced teachers.
Our High School program prepares graduates to gain access to top
universities worldwide through two distinctive and rigorous programs -
the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and the U.S. high school
diploma. The IB diploma is globally recognized and emphasizes academic
excellence while promoting well-roundedness. Our U.S. High School
program offers a range of academic and non-academic programs to meet the
needs and interests of our students, while our co-curricular
selection provides distinct opportunities. Our high school program
provides graduates with the necessary tools for future success, whether
they are pursuing business, arts, law, science, research, or other
exciting fields.

“I am autistic and I do face some challenges. To be honest, I was barely passing subjects in my former international school. But when I transferred to M’KIS in Grade 10, the American program let me blossom because I could learn in different ways and choose from a wider range of subjects like Psychology, Dance and Product Design.
When I graduated last year, I received Honor Roll awards; my GPA was 3.5, which is unbelievable! As MKIS is a smaller school, everybody knew me and accepted me... I didn’t disappear into a sea of faces. This was so good for my social skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Because my children underwent the PYP and MYP IB programs, they adapted so easily to the IB Diploma. I think it is very important to have the same curriculum throughout so that their pathway is focussed.
